You pose some interesting questions. I think people often cross the line into bullying public figures on social media and I'm not a fan. It creates a hostile environment which breeds more hostility.

That said, I don't know the best way to express concerns. Maybe smoke signals? I once sent an email to a politician venting my disappointments. He (or someone on his behalf) responded which surprised me. It didn't change anything but I felt a little better.
