You are right, Julia, the instant rewards can lead us astray from our main focus. We are human and immediate reinforcement is very powerful, but it's also good to remember that sometimes gratification is delayed. Maybe an article won't earn much money on Medium, but it will increase a writer's exposure or open a different door. We never know and that is what I needed to remind myself. : )
