When I lived in Germany, I had a ration card for sugar. I remember being so surprised that sugar was one of the closely monitored items. I also recall gas being very expensive in Europe, so I imagine that is another reason electric cars are more prevalent. Although I haven't lived in Scandinavia, I found Europe in general to be less commercial, more natural, and calmer. It's just a different vibe in the U.S.
