This was fascinating! I have several friends who lived in Oahu for a few years (military friends) and they shared many of these same struggles. Separation from family and not being able to drive to another state were big ones. Although I hadn't thought about it until know, I haven't known anyone who moved back to Hawaii after retiring.

I'm curious - what keeps you in Hawaii? Maybe another article on that? I'm always interested in why people live where they live!
