The behavior of your spirtual teacher/organization leader is shocking and I'm sorry for the trauma you and others suffered from him. I can't imagine how difficult that must have been.

As far as having a purpose, I think I personally need one to keep me headed in the right direction. A few years back, I chose to leave my job to focus on a business venture with some other individuals. It is hard to be in business with others and it didn't turn out the way I had hoped. For a few months, I felt a little lost - I had no daily work purpose and it didn't suit my mood well. I certainly can appreciate the benefit of being fully present, but I think I also need to have future goals. My mind just seems to work better that way. I also think our life purpose can (and should) shift over the years to best suit our changing needs. Another great, thought provoking article. Thank you, Sandra!
