Last year, I listened to an interview with a neurologist (I think?) who talked about how our reading brains get out of practice. A previous active reader gets frustrated when they sit down to read after a lengthy break and can't maintain focus. Online reading is often more skimming and less deep diving which strengthens different pathways in the brain.

Anyways, she says it just takes practice to get back into reading. Made sense.

So, I started in January with a book I had wanted to read for awhile (Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir). I started slow by reading just a few minutes at a time and gave my reading brain time to warm-up. Within a few weeks, I fell back into a great reading pattern. After years of reading maybe one book a year, I have read nine books so far this year. I can feel my brain expanding. : )
