In the U.S., a lot of primary care providers do prescribe psychotropic medications, but more and more, there are behavioral health providers in the primary care setting to provide consultation regarding medication, therapy, alternate treatment options, etc. In fact, my last job was doing integrated behavioral health in a primary care clinic.

I think therapy is more accepted and accessible in the U.S. Some places do have long waitlists, but most insurances are good about covering mental health care which makes it easier to find a provider. Granted I'm speaking from a provider perspective. Maybe patients feel differently?
