I'm sorry, Yana, that you had that experience in school. That hurts my heart. There are so many better ways to modify behavior than corporal punishment. When I was in school, if someone misbehaved, they had to clean the chalkboard during recess. It was a big deal to miss recess, and that was a powerful motivator not to misbehave.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and starting a dialogue about this issue. I had no idea it was still so prevalent in the schools.
