I broke my toes last summer and couldn't walk/run for a few weeks. When I could finally put my running shoes back on, my body acted like it hadn't moved at all in ten years. It was painful and I was surprised how quickly it happened. If I ever break my toes again, which I hope I don't, I will certainly swim or hop on one foot down the road or something!! The body definitely likes consistent movement. I'm glad you are feeling better now.
