Great point, Jennifer. Lots of individuals benefit from therapy, not just those with depression. We can experience prolonged sadness and it may never morph into depression, but like you said, it can increase risk. Being aware of our mood and changes in behavior/relationships is key to intervening when necessary. Thank you for adding this important point to the discussion!
